She's A Troublemaker

Miss Molly is a smartypants and chooses to use her talents toward evil endeavors.  Take, for example, today at dinner.

For those unaware, she has been rejecting meats and veggies lately and has been eating her body weight in fruit most days.

I was trying a new tactic: closely associating the distribution of fruit with a bite of either veggie or meat.  No bite of veggie, no fruit.  (Keeping in mind when I say "bite of veggie" I mean a microscopic particle of vegetable and when I say "fruit" I mean four hefty pieces of fruit.)  She was doing pretty good actually.  A chopped up turkey burger with bacon, swiss cheese, and apple with a side of cauliflower - which had been forcefully rejected just yesterday - was slowly going down.

After a few bites she starting testing the water and chose to whip her bites off the tray.  This was not a cute little passive drop off the edge.  It was a violent chuck that resulted in turkey burger stained wall spots.  Luckily, she doesn't like my serious voice and some serious "nos" later, she stopped that game.

Then she started putting them to her mouth and then stealthily tucking them next to her in her high chair.  A few more "nos" and she moved on to tactic number three.

What she refers to as the "Molly wins" play.

She picks up the piece of veggie.

Puts it in her mouth.

Smiles at me as I cheer and dance and give all sorts of positive reinforcement.

She smiles and chews as I put the fruit down on the tray.

She smiles and puts a bite a fruit in her mouth.

Then the smile stops.

She sticks those cute little fingers deep into her mouth and pulls out the veggie.  Hardly changed despite her "chewing".

With her arm extended straight in front of her, staring at me the whole time, she unfurls her fingers and lets the veggie fall onto the tray in front of her.

She raises an eyebrow.

My automatic reaction is a head drop, eyes closed, deep sigh.

Her soundtrack to my defeat is that funny little fake laugh she does.

I open my eyes to look at this little troublemaker and she's got her mouth open asking for a kiss.

"Who would do that Mom?"

"Not me!  Hahahaha"
