High Fives Are For Chumps

Dada was mysteriously home during the day yesterday and he got to fully experience the joy of going "potty" while Molly is unoccupied.

Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Molly.
Molly, who?
Its Molly, DADA!

All of a sudden this week Mol has become addicted to books.  Maybe it will be short lived?  Maybe she's pretending for my sake?  No matter, I'll take it.

We sit in the rocking chair in her room and read book after book after book.  She has yet to stop me - I've had to tell her it was time to eat, or clean, or go outside.  Doing this multiple times per day means we're spending 1.5 - 2 h reading.  It. is. awesome.

There are now too many books to list out all the ones she likes but her latest favorite is Don't Let The Pigeon Drive the Bus.  Basically, the bus driver leaves us and tells us not to let the pigeon drive the bus.  Then the pigeon begs and begs us to drive it over the next 20 pages.  Molly calls it the truck book because at the end of it, after the bus driver drives away with the bus, the pigeon decides he's going to drive a semi.  And Molly has a strange fascination with trucks right now.  Anyway, when we read it, the pigeon (or birdie) is talking to us and after maybe 10 readings, Molly picked up on what we were supposed to say to the birdie...

She's also found more animal noises.  She can quack, She can "click click click" like a crab.  She's trying super hard to growl (both bears and lions make the same noise...I'm just not talented enough for this job) and also to "ribbit".  She chews like a giraffe and "plays the violin" like a cricket...although she pretty much plays the violin for any large green looking bug in any book we read.

For those of you who spent any time with us in the car, you'll know she loves Toy Story and I just pulled out the Toy Story book she got for Christmas from Nana & Papa.  She can now point out Buzz Lightyear, Rex the dinosaur, and Slinky Dog.  We're still working on Woody.  The other day I put on Cars while we were folding laundry because I didn't like the show that was on TV (Octonauts are weird) and she also loved that.  After the laundry was folded, we had a snack and cuddled on the couch watching it for 20 minutes.  Sitting still.  Watching the movie.  For 20 minutes.  It is probably because there are so many trucks in it.

And, if Step #1 for getting ready for football season was learning to CHEERS! than Step #2 is the fist pound.  Thanks for getting the ball rolling Funcle Jimmy - mission complete.
