I realized in the hubbub of Newbabyville, I failed to mention Molly's excursions into "big girl books".
She found my Wizard of Oz book and insisted we start reading it.
Then we read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Then James and the Giant Peach.
And we recently finished Matilda.
(I packed away all my young chapter books because I didn't think I would need them until after we moved. So my Roald Dahl set has to get us through the next few months.)
She had a reading homework assignment for school. Have someone read you 14 books in January. She got the assignment on the first Tuesday of the month...turned it in two days later.
She's also started to really sound words out. She's known all the letter sounds for a while now but putting them together and getting the word wasn't clicking. But, all of a sudden she is picking it up.
She can count up to 39 without help.
Shapes though....girlfriend can't remember square and rectangle to save her soul.

As Molly is part Waclawik, relate shapes to food: circle=pizza; square=apple slice; triangle=piece of pie; rectangle =pound cake; etc.
