We had a working breakfast this morning. Molly was feeling uncharacteristically cooperative and I took advantage of that to tape some of her latest and greatest "tricks".
(I quote that because Ryan has requested I stop calling them tricks because now that she can - and loves to - bark like a dog he thinks its weird. I'm also not allowed to call any candy/cookies/ice cream "treats". Keeping in mind I've never offered her a "treat" after a "trick"....I've yet to find new words to fill those voids. "Skill" and "dessert" seem to boring. "Ability" and "Delicacy" seem to fancy. Right now I'm leaning toward "antic" or "tomfoolery" and "sweet". That man and his rules....)
Anywho.
Here is what I taught her yesterday.
And then we practiced names for a long time. Some of you will be pleased (Auntie Kelly).
Unfortunately, none of the Flynn aunt/uncle names were successful. She almost made a "Erin" sound once but I didn't get it on tape. You can also see her serious efforts to make the "L" noise in Colin's name.
In general, I think it is safe to say that those of you with "J" names are screwed. Despite her ability to say "juice" - she is adamantly opposed to even trying any of your names...Jimmy, Josh, Jeni, Justin. Good thing there are many of you.
I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE CAN ALMOST SAY MY NAME!!!!!!!!!!! That sounded so good! Sorry Ryan but every time she says something resembling Kelly this weekend I will be rewarding her with a treat.

ReplyDeleteIt is so funny that she is boycotting the J names. Perhaps she doesn't want to risk getting stuck with a relative when she wants juice!
ReplyDeletei like treats as a word, i use it regularly
